What is sin today? The Blog

  • The perfect son

A good son always obey and honor his father. A good son knows his father’s will and won’t stray from it. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, did exactly this all the days of His life on earth. Unlike Adam who transgressed the commandant of his Father (in Genesis 3), Jesus, being tempted as well, did not sin nor break the law of God (Matthew 4:1-11). He showed us the perfect example of how to serve and please God. His words were: “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.” (John 4:34) “For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent… more

  • The Lord is not slack concerning His promise

In John 14:2-3, Jesus said: “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” What a beautiful promise! It’s been over a couple thousand years that our Lord Jesus departed from the earth and because of the continued wait of His coming, a great number of His disciples have become weary and fallen into slumber. Many unbelievers also have come to mock and ridicule our faith, not understanding why the Master… more

  • The King’s desire

God is the great King who seats in heaven above and reigns over all creation, over all things seen and unseen. He made Adam, the first man, at this own likeness – which is holiness, but Adam transgressed God’s command and could not longer remain in His presence. Still God continued to love him and his descendants. The King’s desire is that man be saved from his sin and reunited with Him again. God loves us so much that “… He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the… more

  • Let us always be thankful

Late last night, a big thunderstorm rolled into town. When I woke up this morning it was still raining and I said to myself: it is a good thing. Over my walk with Christ, I have learned to appreciate small and simple things, and rain is one of them. Unlike farmers who long for the rain most of the year, people living in urban settings are quickly annoyed when rain disrupts their daily routine. The discomfort of wet clothes and shoes, driving in the rain, and having to adjust or cancel plans because of stormy conditions make some of us wish it never actually rained. But, we do need rain… Much rain. For rain fills… more

But as for me, I would seek God, and to God I would commit my cause. Who does great things, and unsearchable, marvelous...

  • Faith & parenting

As christian parents, we do not always share our faith with our children. We oftentimes think they are too young to understand the scriptures and eventually will when they grow up a little more. We believe they will come to know God and follow in our footsteps once they mature. Well, how would this be, if they are not trained in the way of the Lord? If we do not pray with them on a regular basis and also teach them how to pray, just like Jesus taught His disciples in Luke 11:1-4. How will they know God if we do not lead them to Him? These parents without a doubt made the best possible… more

Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. But...

  • Broken cisterns

“Has a nation changed its gods, which are not gods? But My people have changed their Glory for what does not profit.” These are the words of the Lord spoken through the mouth of the prophet Jeremiah during the reign of Josiah, king of Judah, in a time when the Book of the law of God was lost [yes, sadly!] and the priests, the rulers, and the whole nation had turned away form God. Just like in the days of Jeremiah, the Church today has also forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters. The Word of God is once again (figuratively) lost and the people have turned to broken cisterns: new gospels that cannot… more

  • The prayer that God receives

What should our attitude be when we approach God in prayer? Should we remind Him of the good things we’ve done or should we come in all humility and brokenness. The prayer that God receives is repentance. When we acknowledge our sins and call upon His great mercy. For whatever good we may do in our life, we cannot erase a single sin we committed. Only Jesus can take them away and have our names written in the book of life.

Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: "Two men went up to...

  • Freely you have received, freely give

Over two thousand years ago, Christ came to earth, preached the Good News of the Kingdom of God, healed the sick, cast out demons… And died on the cross to pay the price for our sins… FREE of charge. To those who believe in His name, He has given the right to become children of God (John 1:12), inherit eternal life (John 3:16), receive the Holy Spirit (Mark 1:8, Luke 24:49, Joel 2:28), and enter the New Jerusalem (Revelation 22:14)… All these again, FREE of charge. Today, we can all attest how the love of money and the pursuit of world-based organizational systems have brought confusion and great error in the Church of Christ. As… more

  • A worship without ceasing

God is worthy of our love and adoration. He is worthy to receive glory, honor, and power… at all times. Those in heaven above worship Him continually, as it is written: “they do not rest day or night…” Let us, we who are on the face of the earth waiting for the day of the return of Christ, worship Him as well without ceasing, giving Him glory and honor always by living a holy life and keeping the testimony of Jesus-Christ. Amen.

  • Jesus: the model of perfect love

These are the lyrics of a beautiful love song by fellow Congolese brothers I came across a few days ago. You can listen to it here and download the whole album for free here. [Song was translated from French to English] You’re the kind of man that God wanted on earth, The model of perfect love, You taught love by your word and your life, Jesus you are the model of perfect love. (x2) You taught us what true love is, To love those who are unworthy of our love, To do good to those who won’t do the same to us, Jesus you are the model of perfect love You have proven your love… more
